I am following the news a little bit and am a little concerned about what is happening in Congress. Tom Daschle, who Obama elected to be the health and human services director has failed to pay taxes, the sum of which is about $130,000. Is that not enough for him to be put in jail? If one of us 'common folk' failed to pay $130,000 in taxes, then what would happen to us? We would have to repay all of that money, plus interest and may have to go to jail. Why is the government letting Daschle get away with it? That is a question I cannot answer, but I do hope that we as a country treat EVERYONE equal, with equal rights. I do not believe the IRS has much sympathy on people that have made an 'honest mistake.' I am okay with the fact that he made an honest mistake and I will give him the benefit of the doubt, I am only saying that he should be prosecuted the same as any other American. We do live in a land of equality and equality means equal. Daschle should not be given that position and should repay all of his back taxes (if he knew what were good for him, he already would have). Anyway, that is my rant for the day.
